Balbriggan Educate Together

Please be punctual when dropping and collecting a child from school. School starts at 8.45am sharp. Children will be supervised in the playground from 8.35am for parents to drop and leave. Please ensure to collect your child at home- time promptly. Teachers must be kept informed as to who has permission to collect and take-home your child from school. Also keep your teacher(s) informed of any changes to your mobile phone numbers.

The Law requires that any child who misses more than 20school days must be reported to the National Education Welfare Board. Parents are asked to keep children’s absences from school to a minimum. If your child is out of school there is no need to ring the school, instead on your child’s return to school give the class teacher a WRITTEN note informing the school as to the reason for the child’s absence. Parents are expected to report any contagious diseases that your child may have suffered to Fintan, in the strictest confidence.

Sunday September 2^nd : 5pm Informal “get-together” in Ardgillan Castle playground.

Monday September 3^rd : School starts for 07/08 school year.

Tuesday September 25^th. Normal school day, but Club Registration for 1^st Cycle of After-School clubs takes place at 8.30am sharp.

Thursday 27^th September; School closes at 12noon and reopens at 8.45am on Monday October 1^st ( Staff training for Thursday afternoon and all day Friday)

Friday October 26th: 10am to 12noon Ceremony for Green School Award.

Friday October 26^th: School closes at 12noon and reopens on Monday November 5^th for Half-term holiday.

The whole month of November is “Human Rights Month” with many school initiatives for children, parents and the wider community of Balbriggan to explore and learn more about Human Rights and Childrens Rights issues.

Friday November 30^th: School closes at 12noon for Staff Meeting.

Friday December 21^st: 10am to 12noon End of Term concert.

Friday December 21^st: School closes at 12noon and reopens at 8.45am on Monday January 7^th. ( Winter Holiday)

Friday January 25^th School closes at 12noon for Staff Meeting

February 6^th/7^th/8^th Normal School days , but followed by afternoon Parent-Teacher meetings.

Friday February 8^th School closes at 12noon and reopens at 8.45am on Monday 18^th February (Half-Term Holiday)

Monday February 25^th February to Friday 29^th February: Normal school week, but dedicated to ARTS WEEK with numerous school initiatives for the children and parents to participate in visual arts, drama and music education.

Wednesday February 27^th; Normal school day , but Club Registration takes place at 8.30am for the 2^nd Cycle of After-School Clubs.

Friday February 29^th ; School closes at 12noon for Staff Meeting.

Friday March 14^th: School closes at 12noon and reopens 8.45am Monday 31^st March (Spring Holiday)

Friday April 25^th; School closes at 12noon for Staff Meeting.

The month of May is especially dedicated to the teaching of CHILDREN-FIRST issues with numerous school initiatives for children and parents on Child-Protection, Social Personal and Health Education, Healthy Eating, Relationships and Sexuality Education and Learn Together/Moral Development issues.

Monday May 5^th : School closed for Public Holiday

Friday May 30^th; school closes at 12noon for Staff Meeting

Monday June 2^nd : School closed for Public Holiday.

Tuesday June 3^rd to Friday June 6^th ; Normal school days, but dedicated to our annual GET-ACTIVE WEEK four days of School Tours, Sports Days, Outdoor Eucation. Fieldwork in History, Geography and Science.

Friday June 27^th school closes at 12noon for Summer Holidays.

Throughout the year we will seek Parental Involvement in all of the special Educational initiatives listed above, more details will be given in our regular Parent Newsletters.
