science day senior infants

Class Pages

Aideen is our English Language Support teacher. Before she became a teacher Aideen worked as a Scientist!

She treated the two Senior Infant classes to some fantastic hands-on experiemts over two days. We invited parents to come in and observe the experiments in action. We learnt so much about Science on these days.

The experiments we did were: Groovy lava lap, Burst your bubble, Crashing Colours,Lemon Soap, Erupting Volcano,Slime Time, Float or Sink and finally....Water Magnifying Glass.

We made some volcanoes in preparation for Science Day. We looked at a presentation about volcanoes and talked about the Iceland volcano. We looked at the shape of the volcanoes and made the volcanoes by moulding clay. After a few days we painted our volcanoes different colours to make them ready for Science Day.

On Science Day we had four stations setup. We were organised into our groups and moved when the bell rang to the next station. After small break the activities changed to four new experiments. Over the course of the day, each child did EIGHT hands-on experiments. It was a great learning experience for us all (even the non-Scientist teachers!).

The calm before the storm........

The class was setup into four workstations, at the sound of the bell the children moved to the next station.
